Each jigsaw puzzle is made from recycled chipboard and consists of 100 or 196 pieces. The puzzle pieces are large and thick, and have a glossy shine.
The 100 piece puzzle pieces are larger in size than the average puzzle piece. This larger size helps make it a great gift for the younger or senior puzzler.
The pieces in our 196 piece puzzles are half this size.
Our puzzles are handmade from recycled chipboard in our home near Cleveland, OH. Each puzzle consists of 100 or 196 pieces and is a perfect square--12 inches by 12 inches in size. The same size as the most common scrapbook page, they can accomodate a large photo and look great when framed!
Everyone loves jigsaw puzzles, especially on those cold snowy days, or times when you are just stuck inside the house. I started doing puzzles in the wintery days in Ohio and had so much fun that I kept doing them throughout the year.
I also started scrapbooking, and realized how nice it was to commemorate a special event with photos and text. I began thinking of a way to share this with others. So I combined these two loves--jigsaw puzzles and scrapbooking. I did not see these kinds of puzzles available anywhere,
so I started my own puzzle company.
I designed puzzles that when completed, would look like a scrapbook page. I entered personalized text and graphics into my puzzle designs and started giving them to friends and family as gifts. I noticed that people found seeing themselves and their loved ones in a puzzle to be amazing, and fun to do!
It was a gift that they could not get from anyone else.
I started designing templates for all occassions and soon had over 200! Now I am constantly adding new ones as I think of them, and am also happy to help people create their own design.
I named the company Pugshine Puzzles in honor of our two (and a half) pugs. They are a big part of my life and are always inspiring me! In my previous life I was a band director and flutist, and I still play my flute in a few ensembles. I also enjoy birding, boating, and walking at all the beautiful parks here near Cleveland, Ohio. My wonderful husband Edd is an integral part of the puzzle making process and overall helps me a lot with the company. This is our annual Christmas jigsaw puzzle photo with our three babies, Cookie, Sprinkles & Nugget.
